B-52 Shot
A highly popular drink all over the world, the B-52 shot is a pousse-café that can be lit on fire. However, it can only be lit on fire when a triple sec that’s high in alcohol content is used - like Cointreau, or its topped with a overproof alcohol like Bacardi 151. Even then, the b52 shot flaming effect can still be difficult to achieve.
Ingredients
- •1/3 shot Kahlua coffee Liqueur
- •1/3 shot Bailey’s Irish Cream
- •1/3 shot Orange Liqueur
Instructions
- 1
Pour the Kahlua in the shot glass.
- 2
Layer the Bailey’s on top by gently pouring it over a bar spoon above the Kahlua.
- 3
Layer the final layer of Orange liqueur on top.
- 4
Light on fire (optional – see notes below).
Pro Tip
“For the perfect B-52, make sure to use a steady hand and a bar spoon to achieve those beautiful layers. If you're feeling adventurous, try lighting it on fire with caution, but remember to blow it out before drinking!”
The Story Behind the B-52 Shot
The B-52 shot, named after the iconic B-52 Stratofortress bomber, is a layered cocktail that gained popularity in the 1970s. Its origins are often attributed to a bartender in Alberta, Canada, who crafted this drink to impress patrons with its striking visual appeal and delightful taste.
